What does this connector do?

The confluence content widget allows users to create a connection between confluence and controlmap and then use that connection to embed content directly from Confluence pages into ControlMap.

This connection allows teams to maintain their policy, procedure, and governance documents in Confluence while maintaining the controls mapping and other relationships for audit purposes in Controlmap.


Connecting to Confluence

ControlMap uses an API token and a Username (preferably a service account) for a Confluence user to connect to confluence. ControlMap uses the permissions granted to this user to connect to ControlMap.


Step 1 - Creating an API Token in Confluence

Browse to the following link https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/security/api-tokens and click on Create API token button.


Name the token 'controlmap-api-token'


On the next screen, COPY the token. You will provide 



Step 2 - Configuring ControlMap

Once you record the API token, In ControlMap, go to Integrations > Create New Integration > Confluence

Provide the following details 

1. Name of the connection (Something you can relate to, i.e. IT Confluence for Policy Documents)  

2. The base URL of your confluence instance. For example, https://controlmap.atlassian.net

3. Email address of the users with which you logged in to Confluence to create the connection 

4. API token created in the previous steps  


Click Save Connection to connect and exit. 


Step 3 - Setting up the widget.


You can create a policy, procedure or a governance document by embedding content from Confluence.  

To create a policy with Confluence content, go to Policies > Actions > Add from Confluence





In the confluence content viewer provide the Page ID of a confluence page 

 


How to find the ID of a confluence page 
Page Id is an 8-digit number allocated to each Confluence page. (Some newer pages have 6 digits) There are more than one ways to find the page of the confluence page
